Business Areas - Corporate Finance - Equity

CaixaBI’s Corporate Finance - Equity unit is mainly directed/oriented to advising medium/large sized companies and economic groups. The team responsible for this area is highly skilled in financial advice and primary market operations in the equity segment.

Group CGD investment banking unit offers a wide range of global solutions in order to meet each client’s strategic needs. This performance has contributed to increasing CaixaBI and Group CGD’s activity in a high value added business area.

 Financial Advice

CaixaBI’s activity in this area is mainly oriented to medium and large sized companies present in the domestic market and/or in strategic markets abroad.

This area provides a wide range of advisory solutions regarding:

  • Economic and financial company valuation;
  • M&A transactions (including Management Buy Out’s and Leveraged Buy Out’s);
  • Support for negotiation processes;
  • Balance sheet restructuring;
  • Equity restructuring;
  • Privatization processes;
  • Organization and coordination of financial consortiums;
  • Identifying partners and deal opportunities.

CaixaBI is currently one of the reference banks for providing financial advisory services in Portugal, taking advantage of Group CGD solid presence in the domestic institutional market. The bank took part in most of the recent major operations.

CaixaBI has also been establishing itself as an important deal development platform in other markets, while maintaining a privileged relationship with international clients and financial institutions and aiming at cross-border operations. The bank is particularly active in the Iberian Peninsula and Brazil, where it holds partnerships with local referenced financial institutions for creating and organizing M&A transactions.

 Capital Markets

The consolidation movements in the stock markets, including Euronext Lisboa, changed the general rules of the market and should continue to bring new challenges. One of CaixaBI’s critical components in terms of strategy is its intermediary role assessing Portuguese companies with financing policies through capital markets.

The Bank presents a vast curriculum of successes in operations that contribute to strengthening its leading position as an intermediary in equity capital markets operations. Results are visible and show the bank’s ability to deal with the organization, launching and placement in Privatization processes and Public Offers for Distribution, namely Rights Issues, Public Offers for Acquisition and Initial Public Offers.

CaixaBI has been the Global Coordinator as well as Bookrunner in the major privatizations in Portugal since its full integration in Group CGD.

 Corporate Finance (North)

CaixaBI also offers financial advisory services
(namely finance structuring, both equity and debt) in the North of Portugal, through a team in Oporto, especially oriented to medium sized companies in that geographical area.
